Duck Duck Splash: A Wet Twist on a Classic Game

Need some fun kids activities? Duck Duck Splash is similar to the beloved, Duck, Duck, Goose, but adds refreshing twist that’s perfect for hot summer days!

This game combines the familiar circle setup with the excitement of getting splashed. It’s a guaranteed hit at any summer gathering.

How to Play

Start by having all players sit in a circle, just like in the original game. Make sure everyone is wearing clothes that can get wet!

One player walks around the outside of the circle. They gently tap each seated player’s head while saying “duck.”

The walking player continues tapping heads and saying “duck” until they decide to surprise someone with a “splash!” That’s when the fun really begins!

When a player gets “splashed,” the tapper empties a small cup of water on their head. The sudden splash always gets laughs and squeals from everyone watching.

The splashed player then jumps up and chases the tapper around the circle. It’s a race to see who’s faster!

If the tapper makes it back to the splashed player’s spot without being caught, the splashed player becomes the new tapper. If caught, the original tapper continues on as the tapper.

Tips for Success

This game works best on hot summer days when everyone welcomes getting wet. Always check that all players are okay with getting splashed before starting.

You can also use spray bottles for a more targeted splash that’s less likely to create puddles where players are sitting.

Duck Duck Splash is the perfect addition to birthday parties, youth group activities, or summer camp activities. It’s simple enough for kids of all ages but adds enough excitement to keep everyone engaged for multiple rounds!
